The National Servicemen’s Memorial Park

The Wamuran National Servicemen’s Memorial Park was officially opened on 2nd August 2002 and has continued to improve every year, thanks to the band of not-so-young “Nashos” who have regular working bees.  The Moreton Bay Council also keeps it nicely mowed.

Anzac Day & Remembrance Day Services are always well-attended, with the local Wamuran State School Choir & Band, Tullawong High School Band & bugler plus a lone piper (to ‘Break the Silence’) and an aircraft fly-over by a retired Squadron Leader & his team attending every year.  Also, the local school captains are involved in the services.  Everyone enjoys the personal touch to these local remembrance services.

It is a well-used park, by locals, National Servicemen,  group / family get-togethers, and tourists, as there are 2 BBQ’s, picnic tables & other seating scattered around the park, plus swings for the children.  All this equipment has been donated by local families or community groups.

Wamuran is very proud of our National Servicemen’s Park with its’ 2 flag poles (including the original Wacol Army Depot flagpole at the western end of the park near the old railway line), and the beautiful Helidon-stone Monument and 2 Memorial Walls, the well-kept lawn, trees and gardens.
